Ajay Devgn’s Vijay Salgaonkar is back in theatres as Drishyam: The Conclusion begins what is intended to be the final chapter of the Hindi franchise. Directed and written by Abhishek Pathak, the thriller released on October 2 amid high anticipation and expectations of a major opening.
Strong advance bookings build momentum
The film’s advance sales opened five days before its theatrical release. It earned more than ₹49 crore in pre-sales for its opening weekend, with over 13 lakh tickets sold. The figures have strengthened trade expectations that the film could deliver one of the biggest openings for a Hindi film.
The October 2 release also carries significance within the franchise. The events of the first Drishyam take place on October 2, 2014, giving the date an added connection to Vijay’s story.
Returning cast and a different storyline
Devgn reprises his role alongside Tabu, Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav and Kamlesh Sawant. Saurabh Shukla also returns in a cameo. Jaideep Ahlawat joins the film as a police officer after replacing Akshaye Khanna, who left the project shortly before filming began.
Pathak has said the third film follows a story different from the Malayalam Drishyam 3. While the first two Hindi instalments were direct remakes of the Malayalam films, the new chapter is positioned as an original conclusion to the Hindi saga.
Franchise finale faces heightened expectations
With strong pre-release demand and trade predictions pointing to a record start, Drishyam: The Conclusion arrives under considerable commercial scrutiny. Its theatrical performance will set the tone for the close of the Hindi franchise.
