Kangana Ranaut has criticised protesters associated with a CJP-led anti-CEC demonstration, describing them as “anti-national forces trying to destabilise India” and saying that “people are exposing them.”
Her comments came as Delhi Police moved to prevent the planned gathering from reaching Jantar Mantar in central Delhi.
Police Detain Protest Leadership
The CJP had called for a large protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on October 10. Before protesters could reach the site, Delhi Police detained key members of the group’s leadership.
More than 6,000 people were detained across Delhi on Saturday. Most of those detained were released later the same day.
What the Detentions Mean for the Protest
The preventive action disrupted the planned demonstration before it could assemble at the designated location. The scale of the detentions and the involvement of senior protest leadership made the episode a significant development surrounding the anti-CEC mobilisation.
Ranaut’s remarks add a prominent public criticism of the protesters, while the police action effectively limited access to the central Delhi protest site. Based on the available information, most detainees were later released, but the planned gathering was prevented from reaching Jantar Mantar.
